James V. Durso, 91, of 36 Benham St., Hamden, died Sept. 16, 2011 at St. Raphael's Hospital after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Josephine Piccirilli Durso. Jim was born in New Haven, April 19, 1920, the son of the late James and Lucy Rubino Durso and was a shoe salesman for Knapp & Hanover Shoes for 25 years and then was a real estate agent for the Raccio Agency for another 25 years. He was an eagle scout and active in BSA, a member of the Knights of Columbus, Carmel Council 3605,a fourth degree member of the John Barry Assembly, a constable for the Town of Hamden, an Army veteran of WWII serving in the Pacific and a member of St. Ann's Holy Name Society. Beside his wife, he is survived by his devoted children, Mrs. Charles (Joane) Provini of North Haven and James (Susan) F. Durso Jr., of Killingworth, siblings, Marge "Sis", Guarino of Hamden and Jack Durso of Fl. and several nieces and nephews. Funeral with military honors, Wednesday at 10:15 from the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, l022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden and at St. Ann's Church at 11 o'clock. Interment in Beaverdale Memorial Park, Hamden, Friends may call Wednesday morning from 8:15 to 10:15.
