Helen Parlitsis Modell, 81, of Guilford, died at Yale-New Haven Hospital Oct. 11, 2016, with her family by her side.  She was  the widow of Joseph Modell. Helen was born in Manhattan, NY, May 29, 1935, daughter of the late Nicholas and Irene Touloupakis Parlitsis and resided in Hamden most of her life and in Guilford the last 15 years. She spent most of her life helping others, with a long career at Yale University OGBYN Oncology Dept. until she was 78 years old. Helen was a strong and feisty woman with a quick sense of humor which she continued to have until her final days. She enjoyed traveling to St. Martin and Florida with her family. She is survived by her sons, Christopher Modell of Hamden, Louis(Sandra)Modell of Guilford and Scott (Mary)Modell of Brentwood, TN, sisters Mary(Nicholas)Koukos of Cape Coral, FL and Bunny Parlitsis of Astoria,NY and grandchildren, Nicole, Alexa, Joseph, Jackson and Kenna. She was pre-deceased by a brother John Parlitsis. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 AM in the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden.
