Giovanni "John" Palmieri, 84, of Paradise Ave. Hamden died at home after a long illness.  He was the widower of Mary DeFelice Palmieri.  Born in Formicola, Italy, son of the late Francesco & Rose Palmieri, John was an avid gardener and enjoyed working his orchard in upstate N.Y..  Prior to his retirement he worked for the Regional Water Authority and the Winchester Co..

He is survived by sons, Rosario Palmieri of New Haven, Frank Palmieri of R.I., Mario and Johnpaul (Kelly)Palmieri, both of Hamden, a daughter Rosemarie Palmieri of Hamden, Brothers , Giuseppe of N.Y., Domenic of F.L., Andy of No Haven, Cornell of Hamden, and a sister Victoria Salvati also of Hamden. Grandchildren, Johnpaul II, Kerilyn & Ryder Palmieri, and John Charles & Kyrstyna Lepper.  He was predeceased by a brother Steve, and sisters Olga, Antoinette, Libertine, and Christine.

Funeral services will be held MONDAY in the Peter H.Torello & Son FH 1022 Dixwell ave. Hamden at 11A.M. Friends may call Monday morning from 9-11 A.M. Burial will follow in Centerville Cemetery.
