December 6, 1931 – July 28, 2022
Gertrude Spellacy, 90, of Hamden, died July 28th at Yale St. Raphael Campus after a brief illness. Born in Waterbury, daughter of the late Bernard & Anna Dominigue Daley, she worked in the banking industry for many years. She was the loving widow of James Spellacy. Gertrude was an avid square dancer, and loved to knit, including making her own clothes. She is survived by daughter; Colleen (Bob) Sullivan of Hamden, and Marge (Mike) Heltke of Ohio, a brother Owen (Mary Ellen) Daley of Cheshire, a sister Mary Hobson of Southington, grandchildren Bryan, Colby, and Connor Sullivan, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by sisters; Catherine Pekoske, and Sr. Ann Daley. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial MONDAY at 10:30 A.M. in St. Joseph's Church, Meriden, and may call Monday morning from 8-9:30 A.M.in the Peter H. Torello & Son F.H. 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden. Burial will be Aug. 3rd in Mass. National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Congregation of the Divine Spirit ( www.sempercaritas.org )
