George Torello, Jr., 79, died suddenly, at his home, March 4, 2016, in Chester , Ct. George was born in New Haven, July 31, 1936, the son of the late George Torello Sr. and Sarah Lowe and had resided along the shoreline for many years and in Essex the last 5 years. He was a structural engineer, founding George Torello Engineering, PC in 1982, operating it until his death. He was the recipient of the Benjamin Wright Award by the ASCE for significant contribution to the Civil Engineering Profession . He was devoted to his business and enjoyed sailing and the seashore. He is survived by his sons, Gary Torello (Donna Mayer) of Haddam and Mark (Ava) Torello of Rocky Hill, his loving companions, Dorothy Heath and Patricia Dubee, a brother, James Torello Sr. of VT and grandsons, Anthony Torello of W. Hartford and Tanner Brach on military service in Japan.  He was pre-deceased by a sister, Sara Martone. Calling hours Friday March 11 ^th from 10 to 12, followed immediately by the funeral service, both in the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden, with the Pastor R. Maureen Hawksley, officiating. Private interment at sea. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the ACEC Scholarship Fund:
