Genaro "Dick" Pannella, 82, of Ansonia, formerly of Hamden, died Feb. 9th at Yale N.H.Hospital after a brief illness. He was the loving husband of the late Mary Finta Pannella. Born in New Haven, son of the late Angelo & Carmella Pasquale Pannella, he owned and operated A. Pannella & Sons Oil. Dick was voted to the 1957 All State footbal team, and was inducted into both the New Haven Grid Iron & Hamden High Football Halls of Fame. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, an avid train collector, and enjoyed watching westerns and playing poker. He is survived by a son Genaro (Sarah) Pannella Jr. of Hamden, daughters; Teresa (Don) Shivas of Naugatuck and Lisa (Joe) Maus of Woodbridge, a brother Angelo Pannella Jr. of East Haven, and grandchildren; Donny, Anthony & Angie Shivas, Laurel & Jenna Maus, and Josephine Pannella. Funeral services will be held MONDAY at 10:30 A.M. in the Peter H. Torello & Son F.H. 1022 Dixwell Ave. Hamden. Burial will be private. Friends may call Monday morning from 8:30 to 10:30 A.M.
