Frederick "Fritz" Vece, 94, of Hamden, died June 3, 2018 at Whitney Manor. Fritz was born in Hamden, Oct.27, 1923, the son of the late Sam and Julia Masotta Vece and resided in Hamden most of his life. He was  the owner of the Highwood Bar and Grille for 24 years, retiring 25 years ago. He was an Army Veteran of WWII and a member of the Hamden IA Club. He is survived by his sister, Lorraine LaTerza and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his siblings, Marion Vece, Josephine Carbone, Eleanor LaBadia, Thomas and Gabe Vece. Funeral Thursday at 10:15 from the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden, and at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 11 o'clock. Interment in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
