Frederick J. Barbieri, 100, of Hamden, died at his home, Sept. 23, 2018. He was the husband of the late Ann Apicella Barbieri. Fred was born in New Haven, July 12, 1918, the son of the late Antimo and Alberta Vinditti Barbieri and worked for many years for the Blakeslee and Tilcon Tomasso Companies. He was a member of the IUOE. local 478 and an Army Veteran of WWII, having served in Europe and in the Pacific, with the rank of 1st Sgt. He is survived by a son, Thomas (Kelly) Barbieri of Hamden, a sister, Emma Leggiero of Hamden and 3 grandchildren, Matthew, Amy and Ava Barbieri. He was pre-deceased by his siblings, Marie Barbieri, Connie Bartlett, Michael, Stephen and George Barbieri. Funeral Thursday at 9:15 from the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden and at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 10 o'clock. Interment in All Saints Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday morning from 8 to 9:15.
