Frank G. Sauro Jr., 91 a lifelong Hamden resident passed away peacefully at Yale N.H. Hospital Oct. 31st, with his family by his side. Born in New Haven, son of the late Frank P. Sauro Sr. & Palmina Alfano Sauro. He worked for Greist/Mite/N.H Manufacturing for 48 years until his retirement in 1998. He was the loving & devoted husband of 68 years to Gloria Carolla Sauro. Loving father of Frank P. (Kim) Sauro III, and Mark Joseph (Bonney) Sauro. Frank loved his 6 grandchildren; Jason, Jennalee(Joe Wynoski), Krista, Adam, Alex, & Joseph and his 3 greatgrandchildren, Carmella, Joseph, and Jace. He was a member of the 3rd district Republican Club, and was the longest tenured Hamden Parks & Rec. Commissioner, receiving an award of recognition from the state. He coached Hamden Fathers' Baseball & Basketball for many years. He enjoyed bowling, Jigsaw & crossword puzzles, and was an avid fan of the Yankees, N.Y.Giants, Notre Dame football, and UCONN womens and mens basketball. The family would like to thank the staff at YNHH E. Pavilion 9-5 and the Hospice/Vitas staff for their outstanding care. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial FRIDAY at 10 A.M. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Hamden. Calling hours will be Thursday 4-7 P.M. in the Peter H. Torello & Son F.H., 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden. Burial will follow in All Saints cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Father Gatzak - Office of Radio and Television ( www.ortv.org ), or St. Jude Children's Hospital ( www.stjude.org )
