Ersilia "Ceil" A. Petrone, 103, of Hamden, died after a brief illness at Saint Francis Hospital, Hartford, on August 22, 2025. Ceil was born in Hamden, CT, daughter of the late Salvatore & Margherita Muti Petrone and had resided in Hamden most of her life. Ceil received a degree from Stone School of Business. She was also a graduate of Southern Connecticut State College and received her Masters and Sixth Year degrees from UConn. She taught in the Hamden School System as an Elementary school teacher at Helen Street School for 36 years, prior to retirement. She was a proud Sigma Iota Theta Sorority Sister and was on the Board of Directors for the Wepawaug-Flagg Federal Credit Union. Ceil was an avid reader and loved to travel, go to the theater and thoroughly enjoyed spending a day at the Casino. She also liked doing her daily Sudoku puzzles and word games and attributed this to keeping her mind sharp. Ceil never missed Bingo! She is survived by her beloved sister-in-law, Ruth Petrone, of NH, nieces and nephews, Joanne Borsani (Ralph), Marilyn Walters, Marguerite Abate, Linda Peters (Rob) and Guy Petrone (Amy) and many great and great-great grand nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her siblings, Amelia, Matilda, Adelene, Angela and Salvatore Petrone and Marguerite Abate (Michael). Friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at Blessed Sacrament Church, Hamden, on Wednesday at 10:30am, followed by interment in Centerville Cemetery, Hamden.
