Emma Quatrano Antonio, 97, of Hamden, passed away peacefully, July 1, 2015 at Conn. Hospice, Branford. She was the widow of Harry M. Antonio. Emma was born in in New Haven, Jan. 11, 1918, the daughter of the late Achilles and Maria Quatrano and is the beloved mother of Marshall Antonio (Lee), Valerie Thurston and late husband Billy, Claudia Earley (Bill) and Ronald Antonio, her loving grandchildren, Alyson, Kimberly, Brian, Jenna, Christopher, Stephen and Michael and 4 great grandchildren. An honors graduate of Hillhouse High School, Emma was a member of Phi Epsilon Alpha Sorority, Student Council and York Square Players. A graduate of Larson College ( Quinnipiac), she proudly served as executive assistant to the Administrator of Connecticut State Works Progress and as executive assistant to the Board of the Auxiliary of St. Raphael's Hospital. Emma was past president of both the Hamden Women's Club and the Larson Chapter of Quinnipiac, serving on its executive board. She was the oldest active alumna of Quinnipiac Univ. She was also a tutor for Literary Volunteers of America. Emma was an avid ballroom dancer, swimmer and golfer. She was an excellent, passionate and award-winning bridge player who became a Bridge Life Master and Silver Life Master. Friends are invited to go directly to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Tuesday at 10 A.M. for a Mass of Christian Burial, followed by interment in Beaverdale Memorial Park, and may call Monday from 4 to 8 P.M. at the Peter H.
