Obituary

Emily Myjak Bykowski, born on May 6, 1927, passed away peacefully in Hamden, Connecticut on February 17, 2025, at the age of 97.  Born to John & Mary Najduch Myjak, Emily was predeceased by her husband Raymond, whom she shared 53 wonderful years. She was also predeceased by five sisters, Stella Myjak Lucas, Josephine (Dziu Dziu) Rybacki, Vera Myjak Sommer, Jeanne Myjak, Eleanor Myjak Dziedzic and one brother Theodore (Teddy) Myjak. Raymond's passing in 2004 was very difficult for Emily, however she truly enjoyed her family for the next 21 years. Emily is survived by her two children, John (and wife Jade), and Marie (and husband Les); and five cherished grandchildren: Meganlyn Delaney, Samantha LaMantia, Andre Bykowski, Bryan Bykowski, and Jack Larrabee-Abel. Emily was an active member in the Polish Falcons of America (New Haven Nest 81) and American Legion Auxiliary unit 88. She held leadership roles in both organizations. She was also a proud member of St. Stanislaus RC of New Haven her entire life. Emily will be remembered for her strength of character, unwavering loyalty to her family and friends, and the profound devotion she shared with her best friend and husband, Raymond. A special thanks to Marie, Les, Meganlyn and Maryellen for their kind and patient caretaking the last few years of Emily's life. Emily will be dearly missed by her three furry family members, her cats - Cinnamon and Lil Mick and her dog Luna, who gave her great comfort. Calling hours will be held Saturday from 8 - 9 am in the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10 am in St. Stanislaus Church. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery. The family has requested in lieu of flowers that donations be made to American Legion Auxiliary Past Presidents Memorial Grants/helping veterans children fund their education.
