Elsie D. Raccaro DeMatteis, 92, formerly of Shepard Ave., Hamden, died Aug. 16, 2014 at Whitney Manor after a long illness. She was the widow of Dennis DeMatteis Sr. Elsie was born in Akron, OH, Jan. 4, 1922, the daughter of the late Peter and Amelia Flaibani Raccaro and resided in Hamden most of her life. She was a time keeper at Mite Corp. for 37 years prior to retiring and enjoyed ball room dancing with her husband. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, children, Mrs. Richard (Kim) D'Angelo and Dennis (Gail) DeMatteis Jr., both of Hamden, grandchildren, Anthony and Michael DeMatteis, siblings, Mae Raccaro of Meriden, Benjamin Raccaro of East Haven and Chester Raccaro of Orange and the late Edwin Raccaro. Funeral Thursday at 9:15 from the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Ave. Hamden and at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 10 o'clock. Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 8 P.M. Interment private. The family would like to thank the staff at Whitney Manor and Conn. Hospice for their love and support.
