Eleanor Scherb Rieger, 90, of Hamden, passed into eternal rest, Feb. 17, 2011, surrounded by her loving children. She was the wife of the late George "Dutch" Rieger. Eleanor was born in New Haven, Dec. 13, 1920, the daughter of the late Alfred and Edith Wulle Scherb and was employed at Winchester Repeating Arms Co. for years and briefly at SNET, prior to becoming a devoted wife and mother. She is survived by her loving seven children, George(Karen)Rieger, Barbara(Joseph)Morrisey, John(Sharon)Rieger, Mary(David)Bostrom, Patty(Jack)DeMorro, Kathryn(Thomas)Lane and Michael(Lisa)Rieger. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Hamden Health Care(Spring Glen Unit) for their care and support, especially to MaryEllen and Bridgett.
