Earl Allen Sargeant, age 86, beloved husband of 63 years to Marie (DellaSelva) Sargeant of Hamden, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2021. Earl was born on October 7, 1935 in New Haven, a son of the late Charles S. and Mildred Kerr Sargeant. Following graduation from Seymour High School and Stone Business College, Earl was part owner of Sargeant Insurance & Realty, Seymour for many years and later retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a recipient of an Honorary Discharge from the Connecticut National Guard; lifetime member and Past Grand Knight of the Father Cavanaugh Council, Knights of Columbus; former member of Seymour Lions Club; 10 year volunteer at St. Ann's Soup Kitchen, Hamden; 51 year member of Blessed Sacrament Church, now Christ the Bread of Life Parish, Hamden; and member of Miller Association of Seniors, Hamden. He enjoyed spending time with his family; traveling abroad and in the U.S.; and watching N.Y. Yankees and UCONN basketball games. In addition to his wife, Earl leaves behind his two daughters, Beth Ellen (Charles) Rogers of Waterford and Amy Sargeant (Gregory) Lang of Westport; four granddaughters, Lauren and Rebecca Rogers, Cassandra and Eliza Lang; a brother, Harry Sargeant. He was also predeceased by siblings, Alton, Norman, Charles and Richard Sargeant; Eunice Nitchals and Gertrude Hurlbert. His family will receive relatives and friends at Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Avenue, Hamden on Thursday, December 16, from 9:00 to 10:15 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at Christ the Bread of Life Parish, Blessed Sacrament Campus, 321 Circular Avenue, Hamden.
