Dorothy Hurwitz Mancinelli, 88, of Hamden, died April 23, 2012, at CT Hospice. She was the beloved wife of Leone Mancinelli. Born in New Haven, June 14, 1923, daughter of the late Jacob & Ana Norko Hurwitz, she was employed at J.C. Penny for 21 years, prior to her retirement. She was a former leader in the Girl Scouts, a Red Cross aid during WWII and a member of the League of Women Voters. She was the devoted mother of Mrs. David (JoAnne) Curtin, of Dallas, TX, Brian Mancinelli of Westport and Kenneth (Patricia) Mancinelli of Wolcott, a sister, Shirley Harriett of NJ and grandchildren, Justin, Alyssa, and Lauren. She was pre-deceased by a sister, Ellen Harmon. Friends are invited to go directly to St. Joan of Arc Church, 450 West Todd St., Hamden, Thursday, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 o'clock and are invited to attend services at St. Lawrence Cemetery, immediately following Mass. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Conn Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford,CT. or the charity of ones choice.
