Donald R. Morico, 75, of Hamden, passed away March 25, 2014 at Yale New Haven Hospital, after a long illness due to complications of a stroke. Donald was born in New Haven, Feb. 23, 1939, son of the late Dominic and Emily Bove Morico and was a 1958 graduate of Hamden High School where he was an outstanding linesman along with his lifetime friend Dick Pannella during the Golden Age of Hamden High School football. He attended Paier College of Art until he was drafted into the US Army from 1962 to 1964. He was assigned to Ft. Benning, GA., where he served as a member of the Honor Guard. Upon discharge, he worked as an engineering aide for the City of New Haven for 25 years, and served on the union executive board of Local 884 for several years. He was very active and a longtime communicant of St. Ann's Church where he was an usher for many years. He is survived by a brother, Lawrence (Leatrice) Morico of New Haven, and 3 nephews, Atty. Paul (Rita) Morico of Houston,TX, David (Dolka) Morico of Norwalk and Kenneth (Vera) Morico of Houston,TX and grand niece and nephews Rachel, Matthew and John Morico. He was pre-deceased by a sister Mary Ann Morico. A special thank you to his loyal and devoted friend, Eleanor Dapkus. Funeral Monday at 10:15 from the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden and at St. Ann's Church at 11 o'clock. interment in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 8 .M.
