Donald W. Fioretti, 91 of Hamden, passed away on January 16, 2022, in Yale-New Haven Hospital. Don was born in New Haven on February 23, 1930, son of the late Gustave and Mary (Landino) Fioretti. Beloved husband of his high school sweetheart Lorraine (Graziano) Fioretti. Loving father of Karen (Anthony) Cusano of Wallingford, Donna Fioretti of Hamden, and Paul (Sylvia) Fioretti of Hamden. Proud grandfather of Jackie (Wayne), Chris (Ashley), Stephen (Jillian), Nicole, Wayne, Wesley (Angelica), Brandon, and Xander. Doting great-grandfather to Greyson and Griffin. He was predeceased by his son Donald Fioretti, Jr., and brothers Gus and Rudy Fioretti. Don was a member of the Connecticut National Guard C Company 102nd Infantry Regiment 43rd Division, being deployed overseas to Germany as occupational troops at the end of the Korean conflict. Always a Hamden resident, Don grew up in the Highwood neighborhood and attended Newhall Street School with friends he remained connected with his whole life. He graduated from Hamden High in 1948, where he learned drafting and woodworking, establishing the skills for his lifelong career. Don was a meticulous craftsman, cabinet, and furniture maker. Upon returning from Europe, he co-founded Alling Wood Products with his brother Gus and later started D.W. Sales as a certified kitchen designer (CKD) and manufacturer representative for numerous cabinet companies. In retirement, he enjoyed his newfound love for golf, inventing and patenting a putter of his design. He also enjoyed fishing, tending to his yard, and spending time with his dog Princess. He was the pillar of positive thoughts and strength. His smile, warm welcome, and calming presence will be forever missed. Friends are invited to attend a parlor service FRIDAY at 12P.M. in the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden, and may call Friday morning from 10A.M. to 12P.M. Burial will follow in St. Lawrence cemetery.
