Dominic Salvati, 79, of 1790 Dixwell Ave., Hamden, died Sunday, May 15, 2011, after a long courageous battle, surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Victoria Palmieri Salvati. Dom was born in Mocanaqua, PA, April 7, 1939 and was the last surviving child of Gaetano and Rose Russo Salvati. He had resided in Hamden most of his life and was a carpenter in the carpenter's union, working for Fusco-Amatruda Co., prior to retiring. He enjoyed working with his hands and was devoted to his family. Beside his wife, he is survived by daughters, Mrs. William (Rosa) Pfeiffer of Hamden, Mrs. Darren (Celia) Weaver of Baltimore, MD, Mrs. Allen (Donna) Carder & Victoria Salvati, both of Hamden, cherished grandchildren, Nicole Ashton, Ronald Ashton, Sarah Gagne, Amanda Carder, William Pfeiffer and Katharine Pfeiffer and great-grandchildren, Shawn Nowicki, Alicia Nowicki, Derek Wolenski, Dylan Carder and Jeremy Gagne. He was pre-deceased by siblings, Celia LaPorte, Anna Masselli Proto, Mary DeFelice, Connie DeLucia, Frank and Leonard (Renaldo) Salvati. Funeral Wednesday at 9:15 from the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, l022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden and at St. Ann's Church at 10 o'clock. Interment in Beaverdale Memorial Park. Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 8 P.M.
