David M. Salerno Sr. 80, of Hamden died peacefully at his home Jan. 12th. He was the loving husband of Elizabeth "Betty" Barletta Salerno. Born in Waterbury son of the late James & Josephine DeFrancesco Salerno, he worked for many years as Director of Purchasing at Milford Hospital. David enjoyed photography and was a lifelong Lone Ranger fan. He was an avid car enthusiast and took many trips to Bermuda with his wife. The two of them could often be seen taking long walks together in the Mt. Carmel area. Besides his wife he is survived by a son David (Lauren) Salerno Jr. of North Haven, daughters Tracey (Rich) Furman of Hamden, and Kyle Salerno of North Haven, a brother James Salerno of Waterbury, and grandchildren David Michael, Morgan, Giana, and Nico. He was predeceased by a sister Joan Laxar. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 8 - 9:30 am in the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery.
