Clare Ann Torello, 84, of Cheshire, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at Yale New Haven Hospital. She was the devoted wife of William Torello, with whom she shared 64 years of marriage. Born in New Haven on December 4, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Venturina Colavolpe and grew up in East Haven surrounded by a large, loving family. Clare worked as a hairdresser in East Haven for 35 years and later helped her husband open and operate multiple Seafarer Restaurant’s and the New Deal Steakplace in Connecticut. She loved cooking, entertaining family and friends, and spending time in Cape Cod and in Pompano Beach, Florida. Clare and Billy enjoyed a treasured life together, traveling the country and exploring Italy. She was often seen supporting her family attending horse competitions, sporting events and dance recitals. Most of all, Clare cherished spending time and making memories with her family, especially being ‘Grandma’ to her beloved grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sister, Terry Carulli; her daughters, Maria Flanagan and Therese (John) McDonough; her grandchildren Kevin, Brianna, Laurel, Meghan, and Morgan; and her great-grandchildren Wyatt and Charlie. She will be deeply missed by her sweet smile, generous spirit and loving personality to all that knew her. Calling hours will be held Thursday March 12th from 8:30 - 10:30 am in the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden. A parlor service will take place at 10:30 am in the same location. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
