Obituary

Catherine Wiley Richo, 96, of 1029 Dixwell Ave., Hamden, died Jan. 13, 2014 at Whitney Manor after a brief illness. She was the widow of Anthony J. Richo. Catherine was born in Southbury, Sept. 13, 1917, the daughter of the late Bernard and Katherine McNulty Wiley and had resided in Hamden all her life. She was the organist for St. Ann, St. John and Blessed Sacrament Churches for many years, prior to retirement. She was a founding member of the Greater New Haven Community Chorus and member of the Young at Heart Club. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Whitney Manor. Catherine is survived by her sons, Bernard (Sandy) Richo and Edward (Donna) Richo, both of East Haven, 14 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by a daughter Katherine DeStefano and a brother Edward M Wiley. Funeral Friday at 10:15 from the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden and at St. John the Baptist Church at 11 o'clock. Interment in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Friends may call Friday morning from 8:30 to 10:15 A.M.
