Carmel DeSorbo "nonnie" Spambanato, 92, of 8 Pondside Dr., Wallingford, devoted wife of the late James Spambanato, passed peacefully at her home, Nov. 13, 2010, surrounded by her loving family. Born in New Haven, March 10, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Emilio and Antoinette Onofrio DeSorbo, residing in Wst Haven for 42 years prior to moving to Wallingford. She was the family matriach and her wisdom and love was enjoyed by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking for her family, sewing needlepoint, crossword puzzles and going to her club with her friends. She was actively involved in all of their lives and will be sorely missed by family and friends. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Dean(Marie)Colovos of Wallingford, a son James(Ann)Spambanato of NC, grandchildren, Lori(Dominic), Diane(Doug), Jimmy(Barbara),Gina, Denise, & Insiah, 10 great grandchildren and a brother Arthur DeSorbo of East Haven. She was pre-deceased by six brothers, two sisters and a granddaughter Helen. Funeral Tuesday at 11 o'clock from the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden and at 12 noon in St. Michael's Church, New Haven. Friends may call Tuesday morning from 9 to 11 A.M. Interment in St. Agnes Cemetery, Branford.
