Costa, Carl Jr.
Carl Costa Jr., 67, of Wallingford, died at Yale New Haven Hospital, Dec. 23, 2015 after a brief illness. He was the husband of Susan D'Albero Costa. Carl was born in New Haven, Feb. 21, 1948, son of the late Carlo and Anna Cosenza Costa and resided in Hamden most of his life and in Florida the last two years. He was a plumber for over 45 years and a mentor to many, joining the the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union, Local 777, in March of 1970. He was a foreman at Enterprise Plumbing for over 30 years. After retiring from plumbing he owned the Gioia Deli in Hamden for several years. He enjoyed cooking, fishing and working with numbers. A friend to all, he will be greatly missed. Beside his wife he is survived a daughter, Barbara Costa and her husband Morris P. Flores of Wallingford, sisters, Gilda Grignano of Hamden and Josephine Burgh of North Haven, grandchildren, Breanna and Jesse Flores, great uncle of Joseph and Johnny D'Albero and many other nieces and nephews, foster brother of Edward Zweeres of Branford and lifelong best friend Johnny Longo of Hamden. He was pre-deceased by a son, Carl J. Costa and a sister Mary DeAngelo. Funeral Tuesday at 9 o'clock from the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden and at 10 o'clock at the Church of the Resurrection,115 Pond Hill Rd. Wallingford. Interment in All Saints Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 4 to 8 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
