Angelina DeLaura Emerson, 88, of Hamden, died Aug. 13, 2011 at Masonicare, Wallingford. She was the widow of Edward Emerson, Sr. Angelina was born in Wappinger Falls, NY, April 16, 1923, the daughter of the late Vito and Mariangela Dippolito DeLaura and graduated Tappen Zee High School. After graduation, she worked in the office of the Robert Gair Co. where she met and married Edward Emerson in 1948, moving to Hamden in 1957, where she was employed at the A & P Tea Co. for 28 years as a bookkeeper. She was a loving mother and grandmother, deeply devoted to her family. She and her husband enjoyed traveling with memorable trips to Hawaii. Las Vegas, St. Martin, Canada and places in her home state of New York. She was an avid golfer and was one of six ladies who started the Meadowbrook Ladies League. She enjoyed duckpin bowling at the Johnson Lanes and was a member of the Young at Heart Golden Age Club. She leaves sons David and his wife Jennifer Emerson of Southbury and Edward and his wife Mary of Hamden, grandchildren, Martin Emerson and wife Erin of Branford, David R. Emerson, USNavy, Nicholas and Christopher Emerson, both of Hamden, Lindsay Bounds and her husband Aaron of Albuquerque, NM and 2 precious great-grandchildren, Emerson Camille and Weston Bounds and a sister Lucy Lynch of Tappen, NY. She was pre-deceased by 5 sisters and 2 brothers. Funeral Thursday at 9:15 from the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden and at 10 o'clock in Blessed Sacrament Church. Interment in All Saints Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 7 P.M.
