Alexander "Sonny" Ferraro, Jr., 87, of ElmerAve., Hamden, died at St. Raphael Campus after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Anna Pepe Ferraro. Al was born in New Haven, Oct. 12, 1926, the son of the late Alexander and Philomena Bianca Ferraro Sr., and had retired from Avco- Lycoming of Stratford after 40 years. He was an Army paratrooper during WWII and a longtime communicant of St. Ann's Church. Nothing mattered to him more than family and his grandchildren held a special place in his heart. Al enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking, and doing Sudoku and other puzzles. He is survived by his loving children, Sharon Nolan of Hamden, Kathy (Joseph) Delcavo of Cheshire, Susan (Raymond) Marcell of East Haven and Stephen (Jody) Ferraro of Bridgeport, grandchildren, Christina (Christopher) Lopresto, Brian, Mark & Eric Delcavo and Michael (Kim), Christopher (Jayme) & Rachel Marcell, great-grandchildren, Kaleb & Evan, and a sister in law Jenny Ferraro of Hamden. He was pre-deceased by his siblings, Catherine Ceravone, Rose Errico, Bella Romano, Angelina Esposito, Mary Mangini, Alphonse, Ferdinand, Carmen, Marshall, Joseph and Arthur Ferraro. Funeral Monday at 10:15 from the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden and at St. Ann's Church at 11 o'clock. Interment in Centerville Cemetery.
