Albert LaPorte, 85, of 106 Burke St., Hamden, died February 27, 2012 at the Arden House, after a long illness. He was the husband of the late Cecelia Salvati LaPorte. Al was born in Hamden, June 17, 1926, the son of the late Rocco and Rosaria Longo LaPorte and resided in Hamden all his life. He was a truck driver for Yale Concrete for many years and also owned the Shell Gas Station on Dixwell Ave., during the 1950's and raced stock cars at the Savin Rock Speedway. He is survived by a brother, John LaPorte of Hollindale, FL and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. He was pre-deceased by siblings Mary Festa, Rosaria Carmela Ferrucci, Concetta Borelli, Rose Grillo, Joseph, Paul and Michael LaPorte. Funeral Wednesday at 10:30 from the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden and at St. Ann's Church at 11 o'clock. Interment in Beaverdale Memorial Park. Friends may call Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M.
